thubten_gelong_buddhist_monk_220Dear Friends,

We are delighted to welcome Gelong Thubten back for another visit. Following on from his successful visit earlier this year, Thubten will give a series of talks on the subjects of Buddhism and Meditation, see below for more details.

Early booking is recommended – get in touch with us by phone 01 4537427 or by email info@buddhism.ie to book your place.

Tuesday 19th August 7.30pm – 9pm

Advice on Meditation – Thubten will guide a session of ‘Shinay’ or ‘Calm-abiding’ practice, and will offer advice as well as answer questions. Suitable for new people as well as more experienced practitioners.

Wednesday 20th August 7.30pm – 9pm

An Introduction to Buddhism – An opportunity for new people to learn more about Buddhism. Subjects covered will include the life of the Buddha, the Four Noble Truths and the development of compassion, as well as an introduction to the meaning of ritual, visualisation and prayer.

Thursday 21st August 7.30pm – 9pm

Purfication and Accumulation  – An explanation of the main elements of the Path, which are the purification of obscurations and the accumulation of mreit and wisdom. All our practice is based around these two factors, and it is essential to gain an understanding of why these processes are important and how they work.

Friday 22nd August 7.30pm – 9pm & Saturday 23rd August 11am – 4.30pm

Deepening our Compassion – Thubten will teach on the Four Immeasurables (Love, Compassion, Equanimity and Joy) as well as methods for deepening our approach to the practice of Chenrezi according to the instructions given by Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche.

All are welcome to the talks, beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Suggested donation for the evening sessions €12 per evening

Suggested donation for the Saturday session €35 (includes simple vegetarian lunch)

Please do not let finances be an obstacle to attendance, you are welcome to pay what you can afford
