In order to meditate in a way that is really beneficial, it is important to take instruction from an experienced and authorised instructor who can show how it is done properly.

Beginning Wednesday 28th January and continuing every Wednesday from 7.45pm – 8.30pm and also on Saturday mornings at 10.30 am – 11.15am, there will be a ‘Drop-In’ introductory session of Meditation open to all who wish to learn the authentic method of Buddhist meditation. The Satruday morning session will also be followed by a short meditation session from 11.15am – 12pm, suitable for those beginning their meditation experience. Donations towards the running costs of the Centre welcome.

In Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin we teach Shinay, also known as Shamatha or Calm Abiding meditation as taught by the Buddha over 2,500 years ago. You will learn the correct posture – it is vitally important to get this right from the beginning to avoid developing bad habits and not gain the benefit from your meditation session – and also how to work with distraction and to use the breath as focus. You will also learn what to expect – and not to expect! – from meditation. When attending the session it is advisable to wear loose, comfortable clothing – jeans are not practical for sitting on a cushion! But you can also sit on a chair if this is more comfortable.

Open to all, Buddhist and non-Buddhist. The Centre is run solely by volunteers, all donations go towards the running costs of the Centre and allow us to provide such courses.
