Dear Friends,
We are delighted to announce the visit of Ringu Tulku Rinpoche this September.
Rinpoche is a regular visitor to Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin, and we always look forward to receiving him. He is renowned for the simplicity of his delivery of even the most complex of topics, making Buddhism accessible to everyone.
Rinpoche will give teachings over three evenings in Kagyu Samye Dzong Dublin, Monday 10th, Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th September, beginning at 7.30pm each evening.
Monday 10th September 7.30pm – 9pm ‘Transforming the Five Poisons into the Five Wisdoms’ The essential nature of a buddha or bodhisattva is that they have embraced the enlightened qualities of the five buddha families. To achieve this realisation it is necessary to abandon the five disturbing emotions (kleshas – Skt) – great attachment, anger or aggression, ignorance or bewilderment, pride and envy. When these disturbing emotions are purified, the five wisdoms shine forth.
Wednesday 12th & Thursday 13th September 7.30pm – 9pm Teachings from ‘The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones’, Rinpoche will continue his commentary on this root text of the Kagyu Lineage. It is not necessary to have attended previous sessions as each evening will be a complete teaching in Rinpoche’s individual style.
“The Heart Treasure of the Enlightened Ones”
In this book, two great Tibetan Buddhist masters of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries challenge us to critically examine our materialistic preoccupations and think carefully about how we want to spend the rest of our lives. At the same time, they provide practical guidance in following the Buddhist path, starting from the most basic motivation and culminating in the direct experience of reality beyond the reach of conceptual mind.
The root text is a teaching in verse written in the nineteenth century by Patrul Rinpoche, one of the outstanding teachers of his day. In the accompanying commentary, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910–1991)—lineage holder of the Nyingma school and one of the great expounders of the Dharma in Europe and North America—expands upon the text with his characteristic compassion and uncompromising thoroughness. Patrul Rinpoche’s fresh and piercing verses combined with Khyentse Rinpoche’s down-to-earth comments offer a concise yet complete examination of the Buddhist path.
***Space in the Shrine Room is limited so we would encourage you to book your place in advance. We will do our best to accomodate everyone in the Shrine but will have overflow space with sound and vision! Book your space now on 01 4537427 or email info@buddhism.ie
The suggested donation is €15 per evening session – this is to help cover the costs of bringing Rinpoche and his attendant to Dublin, and also for us to make an offering to Rinpoche. However please do not let finances be an obstacle.
Rinpoche will also do a limited number of interviews during his time in the Centre, if you would like to arrange an interview please contact the Office – info@buddhism.ie or call 01 4537427
If you are able to assist before and during the visit, we always need help with preparations of the Centre, Shrine Room and Lama’s Room, as well as cooking for Rinpoche and hosting during the evenings. Let us know if you are able to help out – call 01 4537427 or email info@buddhism.ie
